Many Microsoft Teams users around the world are currently facing issues with file sharing due to an unexpected outage. This disruption is affecting communication and collaboration across businesses, schools, and other organizations.
Users have reported problems sending and accessing files through Teams. Some are seeing error messages when trying to open documents, while others are unable to connect to files stored in SharePoint via the Teams app.

The issue started gaining attention as more people shared their experiences online. In response, Microsoft confirmed the problem on its official Microsoft 365 Status account (formerly on Twitter, now X), stating that they are working to resolve the issue.
Microsoft has confirmed it’s investigating a file-sharing issue in Teams, tracked internally as Incident TM1055900. The problem appears to mainly affect features tied to SharePoint and OneDrive, causing frustration for many remote teams.
Although the Microsoft 365 Service Health site initially showed no issues, users quickly reported that files wouldn’t upload and shared links in chats or channels stopped working.
One IT admin from a consulting firm noted, “Files wouldn’t upload, and shared links failed. It’s slowed down our project work.”
Microsoft’s support forums have seen a surge in activity as users try to find workarounds. Suggestions like checking file permissions and team settings have had limited success.
In the meantime, Microsoft is advising users to upload files directly to OneDrive and share access manually. While this workaround may help some, the outage has disrupted workflows across many sectors.
This issue comes shortly after other recent Microsoft service outages, raising concerns about the stability of large cloud platforms.
Microsoft is continuing to monitor the situation and will share updates through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
