Anthropic is expanding its cybersecurity capabilities by bringing Claude Mythos 5 to Claude Security. The new integration allows enterprise security teams to scan code repositories for potential vulnerabilities and receive AI-generated guidance for fixing them.
The goal is to help security teams discover weaknesses faster while keeping the use of advanced AI capabilities within controlled defensive workflows.
Claude Security Adds Mythos 5 Scanning
Claude Security is currently available in public beta for Claude Enterprise customers.
Authorized users can submit a selected code repository for analysis. The system can then identify potential security issues and organize the findings based on factors such as:
- Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE)
- Severity
- Confidence level
- Recommended remediation
The findings are provided for human review, so security teams can validate the issue before making any changes to their code.
No Automatic Code Changes
An important part of the approach is that vulnerability scanning does not automatically modify the source code.
Developers can use the findings to move into Claude Code on the web and work on remediation. Any proposed changes still need to be reviewed and approved by a person before they are implemented.
This keeps humans involved in the software security process rather than allowing AI-generated fixes to be deployed automatically.
Controlled Access to Mythos 5
Anthropic is taking a controlled approach to exposing Mythos 5’s cybersecurity capabilities.
Rather than giving users unrestricted access to the model for arbitrary security tasks, Claude Security provides specific defensive functions such as vulnerability findings and remediation suggestions.
This helps keep the technology focused on legitimate security work while reducing the possibility of misuse.
Integration With Security Tools
Anthropic is also working with cybersecurity companies and service providers to bring Mythos 5 into existing security products.
Potential use cases include:
- Vulnerability management
- Incident response
- Threat intelligence
- Detection engineering
- Software security
- Automated remediation
In these integrations, users can continue working through their existing security platforms while Mythos 5 performs specific defensive analysis in the background.
New Defender Advantage Fund
Anthropic has also announced a $35 million Defender Advantage Fund, known as 0xDAF.
The initiative will provide Claude credits to organizations working to improve the security of open-source software.
The funding is expected to support areas such as:
- Finding and fixing vulnerabilities in widely used open-source projects
- Automated security scanning
- Scalable patch development
- Research focused on preventing broad classes of attacks
Expanding Cybersecurity Access
Anthropic is also preparing to expand its Cyber Verification Program for organizations conducting legitimate cybersecurity research.
The program is intended to provide vetted organizations with additional capabilities for authorized security work, while maintaining controls around how the technology can be used.
What This Means for Security Teams
The integration of Mythos 5 positions Claude Security as an AI-assisted vulnerability discovery and remediation platform.
Instead of replacing security engineers and developers, the technology is designed to help them identify potential problems, understand their impact, and develop possible fixes faster.
The final decision still remains with human security professionals, keeping validation and approval as an important part of the vulnerability-management process.
