Burp Suite 2025.2 Released with AI Integration

PortSwigger released Burp Suite 2025.2, adding AI integration to the Montoya API for smarter, AI-powered extensions.

Bug Fixes and Browser Updates:

A bug fix corrects the display of source IP addresses for DNS requests over IPv6 in Burp Collaborator.

The Burp Suite browser is updated to Chromium 133.0.6943.54 for Windows and Mac, and 133.0.6943.53 for Linux, improving compatibility and security.

This update enhances AI integration, offering smarter and more efficient tools for both professional and community users.

The latest Burp Suite version adds AI support in the Montoya API, allowing extensions to interact securely with a large language model (LLM) via PortSwigger’s AI platform.

This integration simplifies automation and data analysis without needing external API keys or complex setups.

Users can now use AI for tasks like generating custom transformation tags or writing code in different programming languages directly within Burp Suite extensions.

Burp Suite introduces AI credits, with each user receiving 10,000 free credits (worth $5) for AI interactions.

An example is the AI-powered Hackvertor extension, which can generate or modify tags based on natural language or traffic patterns.

Along with these updates, PortSwigger has revised its data processing agreement to include AI service provisions. Users must accept the new End User License Agreement (EULA) when updating to this version.

Bambda Library:

A new Bambda library has been added, allowing users to store, manage, and reuse Bambdas across Burp tools.

Users can import Bambdas from shared sources or the GitHub repository, improving workflow efficiency.

A ready-to-use starter project is also available in Burp Suite, with pre-configured files to help developers start coding quickly.

The Montoya API now supports improved management of project file IDs and parameter retrieval.

Usability has been enhanced with features like persistent settings in Intruder, a new session handling action for request modifications, and options for easier extension reloading.
