16:42 UTC: Azure Front Door Service Performance Issues Due to Usage Spike

An unexpected usage surge has degraded Azure Front Door (AFD) performance, causing errors, timeouts, and latency spikes. The Azure team has implemented network changes and failovers to mitigate the impact.

Telemetry shows improvement from around 14:10 UTC, though some services and regions still experience intermittent issues. The team is investigating and will update on mitigation efforts by 18:00 UTC or sooner if progress is made.

17:59 UTC: Network Changes Address Usage Spike, Some Side Effects Remain

Microsoft reports that recent network configuration changes have mitigated the usage spike impacts, reducing intermittent errors in certain services. However, these changes have caused side effects in specific services and regions.

The Azure team is refining its approach to minimize these side effects, deploying updates in phases, starting with Asia Pacific regions.

What to Do If You’re Experiencing Azure Service Issues

  1. Monitor the Azure Status Page:
    • Check the official Azure status page for the latest updates on the outage.
  2. Check for Updates:
